Pair of Barr, Flight, & Barr armorial soup plates, possibly ordered by General Henry Phipps, 1st Earl of Mulgrave (1755-1831) from the factory around 1805. The Phipps family crest a lion’s gamb erect in sable, holding aloft a trefoil. Below, the motto “Re E Merito” translates roughly to “Matter through Merit” or “This by merit”

Script marks for factory and London warehouse on reverse, with Barr’s orange ground and excellent gilt border decoration.

English, Barr Flight and Barr Worcester Porcelain, based on markings produced between 1803-1814.

Condition: no damage, no significant wear to decoration. Excellent condition.
