Elsocht, a Belgian painter who eventually settled in Northern California, is known for his Western landscape scenes, eventually working toward greater abstraction. His work is represented in numerous museums, including the California Art Museum, Richmond Art Center, Missoula Art Museum in Montana, The Pioneer Museum, Kaiser Center Gallery, the De Young Museum in San Francisco, and the Oakland Art Museum.
